What a fantastic month it was for our community! We came together to honour the D-Day commemorations while also celebrating the 200-year anniversary of the RNLI. The atmosphere was electric, with events that brought joy and unity to everyone involved.
A Day to Remember
The entire town was buzzing with excitement as we participated in various activities. The free Picnic in the Park, organised by our Town Council and the Royal British Legion, was a standout event. With the weather being kind to us, families gathered to enjoy delicious food, laughter, and camaraderie. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this event a success! 🙌
Creative Fun for All Ages
One of the most delightful aspects of the celebration was the Art Strand, which provided free craft activities for both children and adults. From creating aeroplanes and tanks to making 1945-style headbands, there was something for everyone. The joy on the faces of the participants was truly priceless! You can check out the amazing creations on our Facebook page. 📸
A Special Tribute
As part of the D-Day display, we showcased military figurines painted by the talented members of the Art Strand. Additionally, the Lamp of Peace mural, prepared by Mike and painted by Garry, served as a beautiful tribute to the significance of the day. We extend our gratitude to Stanborough Construction for erecting the boards in time and to Howells and Haroys C for their carpentry work. Your contributions made a significant impact on the event! 🎨
In closing, we wish everyone a happy summer holiday! The D-Day 80 and RNLI 200-year celebrations were a testament to the strength and unity of our community. Thank you to everyone who participated, organised, and supported these events. Together, we can continue to create wonderful memories and foster a sense of belonging in our town.
